Reunion Testimonials
Hi JoAnn and Rich,
Thank you again for our amazing time at Delmonte, please include this in your testimonials.
We recently spent a week together at Delmonte (we being a family of 23 from the U.S., Australia and Dominican Republic, ages 7-72). My siblings and I and some of our older children had been there 30 years ago and were looking forward to going back but a little apprehensive-would the younger set like it? Would it be as much fun as we remembered? Would we find a way to share meals with such a large group?
A month after returning home I am still glowing from the time we spent there. I have told anyone who will listen what a fabulous time we had. I must have made it sound pretty delightful because my neighbor asked for information for their 50th wedding anniversary/ family reunion next year!
JoAnn and Rich are the perfect people to run a place like Delmonte. From my first contact with JoAnn, she was quickly responsive, always able to provide needed information, was patient with figuring out payment from multiple people even after arrangements changed. Once we arrived everything was flexible, from when we checked in, arranging picnic tables to accommodate us, extending hours just a little for ice cream, allowing us to set up an indoor area for a family slide show. Having canoes, kayaks and paddle boats always available was something that helped promote intergenerational outings that were done by most everyone in the group. Lots of fishing at all hours of the day by all ages. Shuffleboard was good for young and old, the kids loved playing baseball.
But the thing that really stood out to us about both JoAnn and Rich was how they were genuinely interested in how we were doing and always, always took a moment to chat and see if everything was okay. JoAnn checked in whenever she saw us. Both had lots of interesting stories to share about the history of the place.
We found it easy to get food both at nearby small markets and box stores like Costco that are within 25 minutes. Some folks liked to go out daily; I went out the first day and never left again until it was time to go home-too much fun to be had right on the property!
So, in summary, our time at Delmonte was more than we could have hoped for. We all hated to leave there; I look at pictures from our time there every day and keep getting more from other family members. I only wish we could go every month they’re open!

Our family decided to have a reunion at Delmonte in honor of our parents who took us there as a family over 30 years ago! A lot has changed in our family since then. Our babies have babies of their own. We have grown! Over 20 people from around the world (we live in Australia) came together at Delmonte. It was very exciting to be together again. We brought our own food. This was assisted by every unit having kitchen facilities and a screened eating area as well as a dining table. Most evenings the BBQ’s were stoked up and we ate meals together on the picnic tables in front of the cabins. There was much merriment! The hot tub was a hit as well as smores around the bonfire.
Delmonte offers a wonderful little dock from which to fish and swim. Amazingly there was swimming on one side and fishing on the other. It worked well. Then there were the kayaks and canoes and pedal boats! They were all used and enjoyed by old and young. There are little islands around Delmonte that are fun to explore. One of our members rented a pontoon boat for the afternoon and dawdled around more of the lake.
For those who didn’t like the water much there was outdoor shuffleboard, soccer, tennis and baseball, plus there was an indoor games room with table tennis, shuffleboard and board games. We tried it all and enjoyed it all.
Delmonte is a contained environment in a beautiful setting. Older children could run around without parental panicking. Everyone relaxed and had a good time.
For those parents who want family time this is a great place as reception is poor…….no playing of games on the mobile!!!!
JoAnn and Richard, our hosts, could not have been more accommodating. They always took the time to offer suggestions, answer questions, take pics, open the snack bar (with very good ice cream and gluten-free sorbet), list local events on the chalk board or open the hall so we could have a slide night of old family pics! No problem was too big or too small.
Wonderful family memories were created for all ages!!!
Love, Patsy
